A number of new upgrades along St. Gregory's Road between Manning Road and Arlington Boulevard are coming in 2026 that will improve safety for children and parents accessing École Catholique L’Essor and St. André French Immersion Catholic Elementary School and residents accessing the St. Clair Beach Community Centre and Optimist Park. This project is the result of a Town-wide review and analysis of school safety zones that was completed on June 17, 2025.

The 2026 scope of work is valued at $1,132,110 and includes the following improvements:

• Crosswalk painting at the intersection of Manning Road and St. Gregory’s Road
• Pedestrian signal upgrades at Manning Road and St. Gregory’s Road
• Sign installations along St. Gregory’s Road from Manning Road to Arlington Boulevard
• Installation of medians in front of École Catholique L’Essor
• Pedestrian crossover (PXO) installation at Cada Crescent and St. Gregory’s Road
• Crosswalk painting at the intersection of Edgewater Boulevard and St. Gregory’s Road
• Extension of the bus bay for St. André French Immersion Catholic Elementary School
• Crosswalk painting at the intersection of Arlington Boulevard and St. Gregory’s Road
• Realignment of Optimist Club parking lot entrance and improvements to Optimist Club parking lot
• Lighting upgrades at crosswalks along St. Gregory’s Road from Manning Road to Arlington Boulevard

Traffic and Parking Impacts

There will not be road closures in the area and access to parking lots will continue to be open. There may be lane restrictions set up for worker safety. Traffic will be able to flow freely through the neighbourhood with minimal impact.
