At the Public Council Meeting on April 28, 2026, a report was brought to Council providing a summary of the key matters pertaining to both the draft Public Tree By-Law and the draft Tree Canopy and Vegetation Policy.
Public Tree By-Law
This By-Law would prohibit or regulate the injuring or destruction of trees on all municipal lands within the Town of Tecumseh.
Tree Canopy and Vegetation Policy
A policy meant to advance the Town
of Tecumseh’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community health
while also ensuring compliance with Section 270 of the Municipal Act, 2001,
which mandates that municipalities in the Province of Ontario adopt and maintain
a policy detailing the way in which the municipality will protect and enhance tree
canopy and natural vegetation.
